Soho House Portland

With a rooftop lounge and patio, Soho House Portland is where old meets new. Through its design, we wanted to reference the club’s history as a laundry building, which meant playing up lots of industrial details in the space.

We added plenty of our design notes too, with vintage-inspired furniture, geometric patterns, and a mix of burl and walnut woods - a nod to materials native to the Pacific Northwest. That mix is part of the Soho Home collection, too. Wood, leather, and velvet are paired with lots of organic materials such as linen, while simple patterns and colours make soft furnishings pop.

Pair vintage with new

Avoid styling that feels too formal. Mix materials such as velvet, wood, and aged brass with a textured rug for an eclectic, lived-in look. There’s no “correct” styling trick here, just get experimental and see what works side by side

Invite in a little calm

'Warm tones and natural materials are the key to a relaxed atmosphere. Oak and burl woods can be paired with natural textiles such as linen in neutral shades'
