How it's made: Barwell Crystal

Hands carve intricate patterns on an upside-down glass using a precision engraving tool, with a workshop setting evident in the background.

Drawing on a centuries-long tradition of glass making, the glassmakers use traditional techniques and state-of-the-art technology to produce crystal with a particular purity.

Crystal glasses with various shapes and sizes rest on a dark marble surface. In the background, a dark red wall and a half-visible wine bottle inside a marble wine cooler provide an elegant setting.

After the crystal is made, shaped and slowly cooled, the pattern is cut using traditional carborundum or diamond cutting wheels of varying levels of fineness.
