'Study 2 Plashy Place' by Day Bowman

Delivery from 6 weeks

Created using oil, charcoal and conte, this canvas recreates the marks, lines and shapes the artist made in the wet sand of her hometown beach.

Part of a series of original landscapes that takes inspiration for its title from a poem by W.B. Yeats. The artwork itself draws on the artist's memories of the landscape in the area she grew up, and so "the canvas becomes the beach that served as the canvas of my childhood".

About the artist

Day Bowman often takes inspiration from the coastal landscape of a childhood spent growing up in a "holiday destination seaside town". The recipient of multiple awards, her artworks are a mix of abstract and figurative paintings that experiment with different mediums.
