The first artwork Soho House Head of Collections Kate Bryan ever bought was by Paul Davis. She describes the work of the LA-based, Australian-born artist 'an enquiry into the relationship between the built and the natural environment. You'll often see mountainscapes, palm trees in with this duality of modern, urban architecture. Paul didn't want to make an edition of a painting, he wanted to make something special. The idea is that the texture is very self-evident - you can literally see the masking tape, you can see the feet... it's a very honest depiction and gives it this really cool edge.'
